Read the label for the exact medicine.

FDA is short for the US medicines agency, the Food and Drug Administration. An approved label describes a particular drug and its named uses.

Ask the doctor for the label for the exact medicine being discussed. Check whether that label covers a tablet, an injection or another way of taking it. Bring the parts you do not understand to the visit.

Match the person and pharmacy to a record.

State boards publish doctor and pharmacy licence records. Use the name and licence details to check the right entry.

These searches show the public licence record. A clean record alone does not rate the care.

Read what making a medicine to order means.

Compounding means making medicine for a particular need, with a pharmacist or doctor doing the preparation.

Compounded medicines had no FDA approval as of September 2026. Before patients could get them, the agency had not reviewed their safety, their quality or how well they worked.

Read the kind of action as well as the headline.

A warning letter records FDA’s concerns about a named business at the time it was sent. It is an allegation: a claim about a problem, rather than a final decision. A letter alone does not tell you whether those issues were later resolved.

Check the date and any later company response or FDA notice before using a letter to judge a company today.

If a company has no warning letter listed, that does not prove FDA checked it.

An advisory committee is a panel whose role is to advise the agency.

As of September 2026, the committee could only advise FDA on adding ingredients to the list for making medicines to order. A vote alone could not add an ingredient or make it legal to use. A formal rule change, with a chance for the public to comment, was still needed.

If an offer points to a committee vote, ask for the current rule for the exact ingredient being offered.

An approval claim needs an approval record.

FDA registration is a record of a place that makes drugs. As of September 2026, it did not mean FDA approval of the place or its medicines.

NDC stands for National Drug Code: a product’s identifying number in FDA’s list of drug products. Being on that list, as of September 2026, does not prove approval.

Ask for the actual approval record when a page claims approval. Ask which product and use that record covers.
